An environmentalist has been granted an honorary membership in the Marbella Rotary Club in recognition of their work in pollution control.

The Rotary Club Marbella-Guadalmina, in partnership with environmental activist Nacho Dean and the charity La España Azul, is working towards reducing plastic waste along the Spanish coastline. The EndPlasticSoup initiative, launched as a result of their collaboration, aims to document the impact of plastic and micro-plastic contamination on marine ecosystems.

Nacho Dean is an experienced adventurer and naturalist who has undertaken various expeditions to highlight the need to protect our oceans. He recently joined the Rotary Club in Marbella to deliver a powerful talk, sharing some alarming statistics on plastic pollution he had observed during his voyage. He explained how he was sailing around the Spanish coastline in his boat, La España Azul, to document the impact of plastic and micro-plastic contamination on marine ecosystems.

During his visit, Nacho was made an Honorary Member of the Rotary Club in recognition of his tireless efforts to protect our oceans. He also met with officials and private companies at each port to encourage cooperation towards freeing the oceans from plastic pollution. His meetings were highly productive, and he managed to inspire others to join the fight against plastic waste.

The partnership between the Rotary Club and Nacho Dean has set an example for others to follow in their quest to protect the environment. Plans are already underway to extend the project to other countries in Europe and Central America, with the continued support of Rotary Ambassador Clubs. The partnership between the Rotary Club and Nacho Dean is paving the way for a cleaner, more sustainable future, and their work is sure to inspire others to take up the cause and join in the fight against plastic waste.
