Grab your maracas and cue the flamenco, because it seems Andalucía is leading the Spanish 'house siesta' with a staggering number of vacant villas and apartments!
Andalucía, that sun-drenched beauty down south, boasts a cool 641,437 empty homes, making up 13.73% of the region's casa count and 2.4% of Spain's total property fiesta. That's an increase of 4,216 homes doing the lonely fandango compared to a decade ago.
Thanks to the trusty National Statistics Institute (INE) - always the life of the property party - we got these numbers hot off the press from their 2021 census. Europa Press had a cheeky peek too!
Among Spain's vibrant regions, Andalucía's house vacancy game is unmatched, outdoing its 16 regional competitors. Galicia's trailing with 506,370 empty homes, while Valencia shakes its tambourine with 459,211 vacant abodes. To put it in perspective, the Andalusian siesta homes make up a whopping 16.72% of Spain's national nap.
Now, for the fun fiesta details: Almeria and Granada are the reigning champions of Andalusia's empty house conga line. Almeria, with a sassy 16.84% vacancy, has 73,028 homes chilling without occupants. Granada is twinning with Almeria in percentage but flaunts 90,538 empty houses. Jaén follows closely with a dance number of 62,501 vacant homes, while Malaga strikes a pose with 152,774. And Sevilla? Playing it coy with the lowest numbers, showcasing 97,189 lonely homes.
But wait! The party's not over! Roquetas de Mar in Almeria is the crowned jewel with 10,364 homes waiting for a dance partner. Not to be outdone, Almeria city sways in with 9,972.
So, if you're looking for a place to hang your sombrero, Andalucía might just be the perfect dance floor. Just remember to invite some friends over; these homes could use a fiesta!
