The airline is advancing the start date of its Malaga Airport route to March 31 and will progressively increase weekly flight frequency.
This summer, the Costa del Sol will experience its strongest connection to Qatar's capital yet. Qatar Airways is set to offer daily flights from Malaga Airport to Doha during July and August, marking a first in the route's history.
Furthermore, the airline has made an exceptional commitment to the Costa del Sol, initiating the service on March 31 with three weekly flights, and maintaining it until October. Initially offering three flights a week, the airline plans to expand to five weekly flights in June and September, culminating in daily flights during the peak months.
The schedule indicates direct flights from Malaga to Doha on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays in April, May, and October. The frequency increases in June and September with flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Flights departing from Malaga are scheduled at 4.05 PM, arriving in Doha just before midnight. Conversely, flights from Doha will leave at 8 AM and reach Costa del Sol at 2.35 PM.
Eric Odone, Vice President Europe of Qatar Airways, expressed excitement over the increased Malaga flight frequency in the route's sixth year. He highlighted Malaga's role as a key access point to popular Costa del Sol and Andalusian destinations and its importance in connecting Spanish passengers to Doha and further to the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Oceania.
Last summer, the airline ran this route thrice weekly from June 2 to September 11. The upcoming season's expansion is significant, enhancing arrivals of affluent, long-stay tourists and strengthening Malaga's link to the Asian market. Doha, the airline's hub and recipient of the 'Best Business Class in the World' award at the World Airline Awards 2023 for the tenth time, connects to 170 global destinations.
Odone remarked that the added flights will reopen access for Malaga and Andalusian passengers to worldwide destinations like Bangkok, Manila, Shanghai, the Maldives, and Phuket.
This operational increase is part of Qatar Airways' plan to enhance connectivity from Spain. This includes more frequent Madrid flights, aided by a business agreement with Iberia, which operates one of the three daily Madrid-Qatar flights, and a return to pre-pandemic frequency of three daily flights from Barcelona.
'Spain is crucial in Qatar Airways' expansion strategy, offering our passengers a vast network of destinations coupled with an exceptional in-flight experience,' Odone concluded.
