According to a report out recently by Rightmove Overseas, Spain is the most searched for country by the British looking to purchase property in Europe.
The data has been collected over the past year and shows that an average of 2.5 million searches are being conducted every month by British buyers searching for a home in Spain.
The collected data also shows that the average amount that Brits have to spend on a property in Spain is £156,940 (€177,960) and reveals that 53% of enquiries are for houses, compared with 47% for apartments.
Malaga was the third most popular search area, earning 156,865 enquiries, with the average enquiry price of £191,830. Apartments were at the top of buyers lists, earning 56% of enquires, compared with 44% for houses.
The Spanish property recovery has made remarkable progress over the past three years; prices have started to rise across the country and the rise in demand is steadily gathering pace.
The country’s close proximity to the UK and large choice of low cost airlines means that British buyers will always be enticed to Spain; of course other factors such as the outdoor lifestyle, culture and hot weather all play an important part in selling potential buyers the ‘Spanish dream’.
